Global Head of Arts and Culture, CHANEL
Yana Peel is the global head of arts and culture at CHANEL, committed to nurturing the conditions in which creativity can thrive by supporting artists and the exchange of cultural knowledge. She is also a board member of the Fondation CHANEL, dedicated to the advancement of women and girls across the world.
Previously, Ms. Peel served as C.E.O. of the Serpentine Galleries in London and co-created Outset Contemporary Art Fund to pioneer new philanthropic initiatives supporting the arts. While living in Hong Kong between 2009 and 2015, she established and ran Intelligence Squared Asia, as a global forum for live debate.
She is a World Economic Forum young global leader, a Henry Crown fellow of the Aspen Institute, a fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects and an author of children’s books to benefit the NSPCC. In addition, she is a member of the international councils of Tate, Studio Voltaire, the Metropolitan Museum and American Ballet Theater.
Ms. Peel was born in St. Petersburg, grew up in Toronto, attended McGill University in Montreal and completed a postgraduate degree at the London School of Economics before starting her career at Goldman Sachs.
