Extended Reality Director and Creative Technologist
Victoria Bousis started her career as a prosecutor for the attorney general of Illinois to bring justice to the disenfranchised. Later, as a producer, she transcended social, political and geographical barriers to bring powerful messages about the human experience to global audiences through films showcased at Venice, the Toronto International Film Festival and Sundance.
Ms. Bousis followed technological advances and embraced VR and narrative gaming to speak to future generations. In 2018, she earned a master’s degree in media, technology and innovation from M.I.T., converging cinema, gaming and neuroscience to deliver powerful, character-driven stories. “Stay Alive, My Son” is her directorial debut, officially selected in the Cannes development showcase in 2020, with Chapter 1 premiering in Venice, Berlin, Sweden, Hong Kong and Singapore and winning numerous prizes for best VR experience, best director and best actor. Chapter 2 premiered at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas.
In 2022, honored as a pioneering woman in virtual production by the Hollywood Production Association, she founded UME, a creative and technology-based game company to pioneer the future of storytelling across all mediums and platforms for film, series and VR/AR experiences made in the Unreal game engine.
Ms. Bousis is a visionary in extended reality, or XR, and spatial computing, presenting at prestigious events like TEDx NAB, NFT.NYC and ACM SIGGRAPH (the Association for Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques. Collaborating with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, among others, her work drives change, advocating for family preservation and refugee dignity.
