Information Designer
Born in Vercelli, Italy, in 1988, Federica Fragapane is an independent information designer. She graduated in communication design from the Polytechnic University of Milan. Over the years, she has designed data visualizations for the United Nations, the Publications Office of the European Union, Google and the BBC.
In 2023, three of her data visualizations were acquired by the Museum of Modern Art in New York, becoming part of its permanent collection.
She has been a guest lecturer at institutions including Harvard University’s Design Lab, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and the Royal College of Art in London.
Ms. Fragapane’s work focuses on communicating topics and issues through data visualization, allowing information to be read and explored visually. She has worked with data on environmental issues, migration and human rights.
Many of her projects take an experimental approach, exploring forms and visual languages to give shape to numbers and information. Through a careful selection of aesthetics and design choices, she seeks to invite people to read the stories told by the data.
