Secretary General, Federal Ministry for Culture and the Media, Germany
Andreas Görgen is secretary general of the German Federal Ministry for Culture and the Media.
After completing a law degree, he began his professional career at the Berliner Ensemble theater in 1996. Having worked between Germany and France in the fields of culture and industry, he secured a scholarship to study at the École Nationale d’Administration in Strasbourg and transitioned to the public financing of films. He subsequently worked in a number of consultancy roles with the German government, including the Federal Ministry for Culture and Media, the Federal Chancellery Europe Department and the Federal Foreign Office.
Between 2009 and 2013, Mr. Görgen served in senior roles in the energy sector with Siemens South West Europe before returning to the Federal Foreign Office, where he was head of department for culture and communication for seven years.
